Position: Operational Technology (OT) Engineer

This role bridges our Corporate IT and Corporate Engineering teams, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining our Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). As the company’s automation systems expert, you’ll support and optimize manufacturing equipment and non-IT installations across our operations. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Information Technology (dotted line) while collaborating closely with Engineering leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and program switches for cross-network communication.

• Document system configurations and equipment changes.

• Partner with System Support Specialists and Maintenance Technicians, providing guidance and feedback.

• Analyze and recommend equipment improvements to optimize production.

• Support Maintenance teams with automation troubleshooting, repairs, and optimization.

• Ensure compliance with IT and Engineering automation standards.

• Stay current with new technologies, exploring ways to enhance performance and efficiency.

• Recommend automation solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.

• Serve as subject matter expert for SCADA systems (Ignition and Redzone dashboards).

• Collaborate with IT, Engineering, and vendors during equipment specification, design, and installation.

• Develop and deliver training materials for Operations and Maintenance teams.

• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Degree or Technical Certificate in Engineering, Electronics, or related field.

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including complex control systems and logic programming.

• Food industry background strongly preferred.

Certifications

• Preferred: Network engineering, PLC programming, or electrical troubleshooting certifications.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of networking and complex architectures.

• Proficiency with Python, SQL, and industrial communication protocols.

• Experience with Ignition or Wonderware is required.

• Skilled in Inductive Automation’s Ignition, SQL Databases, Linux/Windows Servers, OT Networks, and industrial switches.

• Advanced knowledge of machine automation and control logic.

• Effective communicator with strong project management skills.

• Ability to hold contractors accountable to scope and deliverables.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

• Willingness to travel as needed.
