Description

Build the future with Amazon as a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) in Selling Partner Services (SPS), Global Talent Management and Compensation. Join a team of world-class inventors and innovators, where your work will power meaningful solutions for millions of sellers and customers worldwide.

As an SDE II, you will tackle complex, large-scale technical challenges, leveraging modern technologies to design and deliver highly scalable systems. Your contributions will directly influence how selling partners grow their businesses on Amazon, driving trust, satisfaction, and long-term success.

Amazon’s Marketplace is one of the fastest-growing businesses within the company, enabling millions of entrepreneurs around the globe to reach more than 200M customers. The SPS organization builds critical platforms that empower sellers to succeed—spanning recruitment, onboarding, integration, compensation, and performance management. By joining this team, you will help shape the backbone of Amazon’s selling partner ecosystem.

Role Overview

As part of SPS Global Talent Management and Compensation, you will design, build, and scale solutions that enable us to recruit and grow sellers at unprecedented scale. You will own backend or full-stack development of product features, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and innovation. From defining requirements to delivering production-ready systems, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, architecture, and roadmap of tools that fuel Amazon’s selling partner success.

We are seeking engineers who are:

  • Entrepreneurial – Building solutions for businesses of all sizes, across categories and geographies.

  • Innovative – Solving problems in uncharted spaces with no playbook.

  • Customer-Obsessed – Passionate about both sellers and buyers, ensuring great experiences for all.

  • Leaders – Owning features, mentoring peers, and raising the bar on engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable software solutions that meet business and customer needs.

  • Lead technical decisions from design to deployment, balancing long-term vision with short-term execution.

  • Deliver across the full software development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, and partner engineering teams.

  • Mentor junior engineers, driving adoption of best practices and continuous improvement.

  • Write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code.

  • Champion operational excellence, monitoring system health, and resolving issues quickly.

A Day in the Life

Our team values work-life harmony, offering flexibility in working hours and fostering an environment where energy flows between professional and personal priorities. We embrace agile principles, experimentation, and continuous learning, supported by Amazon’s culture of inclusion and mentorship.

You’ll work in a collaborative, supportive environment where diverse perspectives are valued. From your first day, you’ll find opportunities for growth, whether through challenging projects, knowledge-sharing, or coaching from experienced leaders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in software design/architecture (e.g., design patterns, reliability, scaling).

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, C++, C#, Python, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of end-to-end software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity compensation.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • 401(k) plan with company match.

  • Generous paid time off and parental leave.

  • Employee discounts and more.

Inclusive Team Culture

At Amazon, we embrace differences and foster belonging. With 10+ employee-led affinity groups, 40,000 members, and 190 chapters worldwide, we are committed to building a workplace where diverse perspectives are valued. Our culture of inclusion is reinforced by Amazon’s Leadership Principles, encouraging us to seek diverse perspectives, earn trust, and learn continuously.

Compensation

Amazon’s compensation reflects the cost of labor across U.S. markets. Base pay ranges from $129,300/year in the lowest market up to $223,600/year in the highest. Actual pay is based on location, skills, and experience. Total compensation may also include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package.
